Material Portal is an internal platform for Ubiquiti Inc. designed to optimize material tracking, visibility, and coordination. Built to replace a prior enterprise solution that lacked key features, the platform brings together all essential processes into a unified, scalable system that enhances efficiency and supports Ubiquiti’s evolving manufacturing needs.
The Challenge
Previous solutions for material management relied heavily on external software, email chains, and Excel sheets, leading to fragmented workflows and limited functionality that couldn’t be adapted to Ubiquiti’s specific requirements. There was a pressing need to develop a custom solution that would centralize these operations and provide complete control and flexibility.
Solution
Designed and delivered an all-encompassing digital platform that serves as a single source of truth, combining real-time material tracking, automated notifications, and a streamlined user experience. Collaborated closely with the development team, project manager, and stakeholders, including the company owner, to ensure the solution met both operational and user experience needs.
Ubiquiti Inc. has seen a 40% improvement in material availability accuracy through Material Portal, reducing production delays and enhancing coordination across departments.
Context
As the sole Senior UI/UX Designer, I was responsible for defining and executing the product vision, including user flows, feature proposals, and phased design processes. Working alongside developers, the project manager, and the Taipei-based manufacturing team, I ensured that the platform addressed Ubiquiti’s unique needs while establishing a streamlined and cohesive user experience.
